What is DIBELS?

DIBELS is a set of short fluency measures that monitor the development of early literacy and reading skills.  DIBELS allows the kindergarten teacher to provide support and resources to help your child develop critical reading skills to ensure their success in learning to read.

What DIBELS tests do students take?

During the kindergarten school year, students will be tested on the following DIBELS activity:  Nonsense Word Fluency.  This test only lasts 1 minute . 

When are students tested?

Students will meet with their teacher to complete DIBELS benchmark tests 3 times during the school year.  (Additional progress monitoring will be held to support you and your student if needed.)
